Micro review: 'A Paradox of Dreams' by Dr. Harshali Singh

After writing the novels 'A Window to her Dreams’ and ‘The Anatomy of Choice’, Write India winner Dr. Harshali Singh is back with her new book 'A Paradox of Dreams'. Released in March 2022, 'A Paradox of Dreams' is the third book in the nine-books Haveli series.

Following Charu's journey, 'A Paradox of Dreams' is a story about how one's dreams can reflect upon the unknown depths of their consciousness. The third daughter of the Sharma family, Charu, lost her vision when she was nine years old. But in the process, her ability to sense other people’s feelings and thoughts were heightened. Thus using her psychic abilities, Charu tries to to help Ravi, who is an SIT head and her lover, by finding victims of crime. Meanwhile, back in the Anwar Haveli, Charu is woken up from a traumatic dream by a phone call from Prithvi Chauhan, who is an old friend and now a Minister of State. Prithvi asks Charu to help him find his younger daughter Myra, who is kidnapped. And so, Charu and Ravi are set on a mission to find Myra. It is during this time that they also end up uncovering the Chauhans' nefarious intentions while Charu struggles with dreams that scar her psyche and memories.

Though Harshali's 'A Paradox of Dreams' is the third novel in the Haveli series, it can also be read as a standalone novel. The easy-to-read language and crisp narration make it a quick read. Talking about the characters-- they are well researched and developed, especially Charu's. All in all, the story has all the elements-- from family drama to dark secrets that make it an interesting read.
