Mick McNiffe: Trump's huge taxes on Irish butter, bacon and Baileys are hard to stomach

Good old Donald Trump. He claims to love Ireland and all things Irish. Sure doesn’t he even have his own hotel and golf resort here.

But now he wants to wreck our multi-million euro butter, bacon and Bailey liquor sales in the US.

This so-called leader of the Free World is acting like the spoilt man-child that he is.

He is ready to slap huge 25% taxes on world-famous products like Kerrygold butter and cheese, Baileys and pork.

The Donald is furious the EU subsidises the making of Airbus jets in Europe – in his tiny mind this threatens the US aerospace industry.

So he throws his toys out of the pram and hits back hard, slapping tariffs on EU goods.

He is ready for a tit-for-tat transatlantic trade war with Europe with Irish products and jobs caught in the middle.

The Orange One is not happy just clashing with China on trade. He wants to fight Europe too.

And we thought Brexit was going to be bad for business. God help us.
