Mick McCarthy has no interest in double-jobbing like Michael O’Neill.
O’Neill made a winning start to life at Stoke City on Saturday as he looks to steady the ship at the Championship strugglers.
But he will still be in charge of Northern Ireland for their remaining Euro 2020 qualifiers and a playoff next March if it’s needed.
McCarthy will hand over the reins to Stephen Kenny after next summer’s finals - and he hopes to lead Ireland there.
The former Ipswich, Woles and Sunderland boss wants another club job when this second stint with Ireland runs its course.

But he insists he is not sussing out the market right now.
"No, not at all,” he said. “The job market is that fluid that thinking what might be available to me now might be bonkers as it will all change.
“I haven't given it any thought . I've got these games to play and I'm hoping that I'll in the job until July. Then I will think about if after that."
But McCarthy is happy with the work he has done to date in his second spell - and it would be all the sweeter with a win over Denmark on Monday.
“I’ll only be able to say that categorically after Monday and it's for other people to talk about it but I’m happy with it. I get great satisfaction from it.”
