Mick McCarthy 'not finished yet' as he refuses to rule out return to international management

Mick McCarthy is not ruling out a return to international management.

The former Republic of Ireland boss is back in the market after his recent departure from the Boys in Green.

And a club job “at least in the Championship” - according to McCarthy - looks the likeliest port of call.

But McCarthy insists he is open to all offers as he continues to weigh up his next move.

“I would take another international job if it came up. I would take a job abroad. I’m open-minded,” he told The Athletic.

“I’m not finished yet. I will actively be looking for a job when football starts back. And why wouldn’t I?

“When you leave a job, you could do with a bit of down-time. But I’ve had enough. I’m ready to go back to work. I love going in every day.”

“I’d like to think I’ve been a dependable, capable coach and manager over the last 900-odd games

“I had four years with Millwall, I had nearly six years with Ireland, I had three years at Sunderland, I had nearly six years at Wolves, and I had five and a bit at Ipswich.

“So I’ve had longevity in jobs. I’ve been there and built teams and we’ve had a bit of success. But whatever people think of it, I don’t know.”
