Mick McCarthy has ‘a bit of thanks’ for John Delaney because he played a part in his return as Ireland manager.
But he has no plans to speak to the former FAI chief executive who left the association under the darkest of clouds last weekend.
“I haven't had any communication with John since we were told that we couldn't have any communication with John because of the situation going on,” said McCarthy.
The Ireland boss faced a number of questions about Delaney at a press conference to announce his squad yesterday.
But he refused to entertain the majority of them and said: “Unless it has an effect on my game against Georgia, because that’s what I’m here to talk about.
“It was pending so no, it’s not a surprise to me (that Delaney is gone). But I’m here to talk about the games.
“We could go on with this for a long time...I’m here to talk about the games.
“I have a bit of thanks for giving me the job back but a lot of people had a role in that and I’m delighted it happened. But I’m here to talk about the games.”
