Mick McCarthy confident Enda Stevens injury scare is only minor

Mick McCarthy is confident that Enda Stevens’ injury is only minor.

The Sheffield United star scored a stunner in the Blades’ 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday.

He then limped off at half-time with a groin issue but McCarthy expects to have him available for next month’s Euro playoff with Slovakia.

The Ireland boss said: ”He was taken off as a precaution and Chris Wilder hopes to have Enda available against Norwich on Saturday week.

“If he gets back in time for that, then he’ll have plenty of time for first team action before we meet up in Dublin.”

Shane Long scored again for Southampton and is set to be named in the squad on March 13.

McCarthy added: “He is playing week in and week out and showing the benefits of that.”
