Mick McCarthy and Seamus Coleman refuse to comment on Roy Keane's Jon Walters feud

Roy Keane's behind-the-scenes bust up with Jonathan Walters rocked the Ireland camp last summer.

But his public attack last week on the former striker was just water-cooler chat for the relatively new-look Ireland camp.

"Why would I comment on that? Did he comment about me?,” asked Ireland boss Mick McCarthy who, of course, has a little bit of previous with Keane.

“You know that you’re not going to get me to comment on that. I did not think that you were naive enough to ask me!.”

Asked about the wider issue of ex-players hammering each other, McCarthy said: “My Dad used to tell me that you’ve got to listen to thunder, you can't do anything about it.

"Ex-players are talking all the time. We were talking about Michael Owen and Alan Shearer who were at it.

"It's not my fight, unless they start talking about me. Leave them to it as it's nothing to do with me, is it?" Are either of them playing for Bulgaria tomorrow?

When asked about the same topic, Ireland captain Seamus Coleman laughed and said: “You’re going for it now!.”

Coleman added: "Listen, that's between Roy and Jonny and I'm not making any headlines on that or trying to get involved in that.

"It's not something that I would be doing. That's nothing to do with me, it's none of my business."
