Michy Batshuayi's brilliant reaction as Chelsea confirm new squad number for wonderkid

Chelsea wonderkid Billy Gilmour has a new shirt number.

The 19-year-old impressed broke into the first-team picture last season, with two standout performances against Liverpool and Everton showing he was ready for this level.

And he did so wearing the number 47 on his back.

But ahead of the new season, he has been given a squad number promotion.

He will now wear the no.23.

Of course, that shirt number has only recently become available following confirmation of Michy Batshuayi season-long loan move to London rivals Crystal Palace.

In fact, the announcement was made not too long after the Belgian international was once again an Eagles player.

However, he has no hard feelings and has wished Gilmour all the best.

"Oh... I thought you were my guy @billygilmourrr," he wrote on Twitter. "Love bro make me proud."

And Gilmour replied by saying: Your my bro always Michy," with the raised hands and laughing emoji.

That's not all the striker has said regarding his Chelsea exit. Already a popular figure with Palace fans, he will no doubt ingratiate himself further with his latest comments after committing his short-term future to the club.

"It's a pleasure, I'm very happy," Batshuayi said on YouTube. "I see my teammates and the gaffer today, I'm very happy, everything is right, it's good.

"I feel like I’m home now, so it’s good. But I need to do a good season here, to work a lot with my teammates and I want to do my best here.

"It’s not my first time here. I know the teammates, I know the gaffer, I know how the club works here. For me, it’s the best decision. I'm happy, the coach is happy, my teammates are happy. Let's get to work.

"Every player want to be happy in the club, to work and play. It's very important to improve too, and today I need that. I think it's the best decision for myself to come here and improve.

"I'm very happy to be here, and happy you keep sending me a lot of messages. I love this and I hope to do a good job this season and win a lot of games, and for you to be happy for Palace again. I love you!"
