Michy Batshuayi is the answer to Crystal Palace goalscoring woes, says Cheikhou Kouyate

Cheikhou Kouyate is convinced Michy Batshuayi is the answer to Crystal Palace’s goalscoring problems.

Batshuayi moved to Selhurst Park on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in January, joining the Eagles until the end of the season.

It came about after the Belgian’s previous loan spell at Valencia this season was cut short.

Batshuayi managed just three goals for the Spanish club but he is already off the mark for Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old scored against Leicester last week and Kouyate, who spent a season with Batshuayi at RWDM Brussels during the 2006/07 campaign, is convinced the Belgian will be a hit in south London.

“I knew Michy before he came here,” said Kouyate. “He has a strong mentality because he did not start the season so good. He had some problems there [Valencia].

“But he has come in here to show everyone what he can do.

“Now I am not worried about him as this guy is going to score more and more goals here. This is good for the team, Michy is a top striker.

“He likes to score every game and he is going to help the team score more goals because he is young, hungry and he wants to do something.”
