All You Really Need To Know About Michigan (30-5)

(Big Ten), NCAA NET Rank: 9. West 2-seed

Now that’s the Michigan team that was so good over the first half of the season and helped get to the Big Ten Tournament championship. It was a tight game early against Florida, and then the D destroyed the Gators and the balanced offense kept the pressure on.

The Wolverines didn’t put Florida on the line – the Gators shot, and made, just two free throws – and owned the boards. Michigan came up with 11 on the offensive side and were clean time and again on the defensive glass. Considering this was the worst team in the Big Ten in offensive rebounds, it was a great sign.

The team doesn’t make mistakes, and that defense is playing at a Final Four-caliber level at just the right time – again.

All You Really Need To Know About Texas Tech (28-6)

(Big 12), NCAA NET Rank: 10. West 3-seed

That’s the Texas Tech team we all know and love.

After struggling a wee bit early on against Northern Kentucky in the first half of the tournament opener – but winning easily after a big second half – the Red Raiders dominated a terrific Buffalo team 78-58.

The defense forced 16 turnovers, took advantage of a slew of UB fouls, and got through drama-free against a team that lost three games.

Its D comes up with a ton of blocks, forces a ton of mistakes, and is third in the nation scoring defense. But …

What’s Going To Happen

Michigan’s defense is second in the nation in scoring D, and the offense leads the nation with the fewest total turnovers. There also won’t be enough fouls to get the Red Raiders on the line – Michigan’s woeful free throw disadvantage won’t be an issue.

Both defenses will be amazing, but the Wolverines will bring a bit more offense. The veteran team will make fewer mistake.
