College football fans are roasting The Ohio State University after reports surfaced that the school is seeking to trademark the word “the,” in an attempt to “protect the university’s brand and trademarks.” Ohio State filed a trademark application this week, triggered by the school’s desire to sell new merchandise with “THE” spelled out on shirts and hats.
Ohio State’s arch-rival, the University of Michigan, responded on Twitter with a brilliant photo: “OF M”
Ohio University also jabbed at Ohio State by pointing out that it is the oldest state university in Ohio.
