Michigan State's season-opening basketball game against Arizona on Veteran's Day no longer will be played at Pearl Harbor.
ESPN announced Thursday that the fifth-annual Armed Forces Classic on Nov. 11 has been moved to the University of Hawaii's Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. A reason for the venue change was not given.
The Spartans and Wildcats will play at 7 p.m. ET (2 p.m. locally) in the first game of the doubleheader. Kansas and Indiana will play at 9 p.m. ET. The two games, announced in 2014, were scheduled to be played at the U.S. Navy's Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu.
MSU played North Carolina on the USS Carl Vinson near San Diego in 2011, then played Connecticut in the inaugural Armed Forces Classic at Ramstein Air Base in Germany in 2012.
"We are excited to stage the event in conjunction with the leadership at Pearl Harbor and feel that the basketball venue at the Stan Sheriff Center provides a great backdrop for these great teams," Clint Overby, vice president for ESPN Events, said in a statement.
Also, MSU reportedly will host Florida Gulf Coast at Breslin Center on Nov. 20, according to the Naples Daily News.
