Michigan State still nowhere to be found in Amway Coaches Poll

…and that’s the right call.

It was a pretty wild weekend in college football and Michigan State sat it out on their bye week.

The Spartans remain unranked and out of the receiving votes section in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY.

You didn’t need a blog post to tell you this, but here it is.

Although Michigan State didn’t play this week, they lost the bye week about as much as possible. Wisconsin, a week after shellacking the Spartans, went on the road and lost to hapless Illinois while No. 17 Arizona State was handedly defeated by No. 13 Utah. Oh and Western Michigan lost to Eastern Michigan too.

It wasn’t a great week off.

Michigan State has a great opportunity to receive some votes after this week as they welcome No. 6 Penn State to East Lansing. MSU won a dramatic game over the Nittany Lions last season and have pretty well owned James Franklin’s squad of late. The Spartans need the win to help turn their season around.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Ohio State remains at No. 4 after drubbing Northwestern. Behind them is Penn State, Wisconsin (No. 13), Minnesota (No. 16), Iowa (No. 19) and Michigan (No. 20).
