Michigan State Spring Football Game: What you need to know

After a 7-6 Football season last year, and a disappointing loss for the basketball team to Texas Tech in the Final Four, Michigan State will be having their annual Spring football game this Saturday at 2pm ET. Here’s what you need to know.

Things to Know
  1. First of all, the First Annual Izzo Legacy 5K will be taking place before the game, and there is still time to sign-up. You can find more info here.
  2. After the game, the Athletic Department will be selling the turfgrass from the field at the surplus store. You can also purchase it online here.
  3. If you aren’t participating in the Izzo Legacy 5K, there will also be a free youth clinic at the practice fields across from the Duffy Daugherty Building from 11am-12:30pm. No registration required.
  4. This will be the first appearance of MSU’s early enrollees, headlined, funny enough, by punter Jack Bouwmeester from Australia. Bouwmeester, the next in a long line of Australian punters hoping to make it pro, has plenty of leg.
  5. This is also the first look at Brad Salem, MSU’s new offensive coordinator, and his new offense. Salem was Dantonio’s quarterbacks coach for six years, and a running backs coach for three, so he will have plenty to prove this season.
  6. MSU was the #1 rushing defense last season, and they will have every opportunity to do so again this season with returning starters Joe Bachie, Raequan Williams, and Kenny Willekes.
  7. How to watch: Live on BTN2GO, tape delay at 6pm ET on BTN.
