Michigan State officially appoints new university President

Michigan State University and it’s fans, alumni, students, and faculty have all been in search of healing since President Lou Anna K. Simon’s dismissal following the Nassar scandal last year. The news completely shocked Spartan Nation to its core and goes against everything I thought the Michigan State University and Athletics department stood for. Now, with the appointment of Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr. we can hopefully begin the healing process and try to move on from this terrible period of Michigan State history into a new era, where, under the guidance of Dr. Stanley, something like this will never happen again in East Lansing.

Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr., 65,  was the leader of Stony Brook University for just about the last decade and will become Michigan State’s president on August 1st.

Stanley said this in a statement on Michigan State’s website:

“I know the Spartan community has been profoundly troubled by the events of the past years that have shaken confidence in the institution. We will meet these challenges together, and we will build on the important work that has already been done to create a campus culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, accountability and safety that supports all of our endeavors.”
