Michigan State misses top-25 in first Bleacher Report NCAA football rankings

As we discussed yesterday, we are now in the time of the summer where we can over-analyze preseason rankings from the various media outlets around the country and either rejoice or complain about the placements of our favorite teams. Well, yesterday was a good day for the Spartans, being ranked the #22 team in the league by NCAA.com. Today, however, was less fruitful for Michigan State football as Bleacher Report didn’t even include them on their list.

This actually infuriates me quite a bit. Yes, preseason rankings don’t have an impact on how the season actually plays out, but I do find it a little ridiculous and borderline disrespectful that Nebraska, who went 4-8 last year, are included in this list but the Spartans are not. For some reason, Scott Frost is the hot new coach that people are loving right now, despite a putrid year and the fact that they lost 6 defensive starters.

I would just think Mark Dantonio has earned more respect than that in this league. Michigan State had a down year last season to be sure, but they were also crippled with injuries and still ended the season a game above .500.
