Michigan State loses to Wisconsin 38-0: Game Recap

Michigan State lost to Wisconsin 38-0 today. This loss was absolutely devastating. The Badgers move on to 6-0 on the season whereas the Spartans are now 4-3. This will certainly bump MSU down in the Big Ten rankings. Here is a quick recap of the game:

At first, MSU’s defense came to play. The front seven was absolutely terrifying. The Spartan’s defense swarmed Wisconsin QB Jack Coan. They even managed to prevent the Badgers from scoring on the opening drive for the first time all year. Rather impressive. Eventually, this intensity faded away.

MSU QB Brian Lewerke did not play well whatsoever today. Spartan receivers also failed to make catches here and there. All in all, a rough outing for the Spartan offense. I mean, you cannot get blanked by Wisconsin. Losing is one thing, a shutout is another. Especially when Lewerke throws a pick right to a Wisconsin defender. This does not bode well for the rest of the season.

The Spartans contained Jonathan Taylor for the most part. He only racked up 80 yards on 26 carries. Unfortunately, Jack Coan went off. Coan tallied up an impressive 180 yards while going 18 for 21. Plus, he gave Wisconsin a touchdown pass to boot.

Fans may not shake this game off. At least until the end of the year. Even the players exhibited a shift in momentum. You can only hope they forget this game and focus in on Penn State next week.

Michigan State welcomes Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 26. Game time is not yet announced. We will provide an update when possible.
