Michigan State legend Magic Johnson resigns from Lakers position

After the Lakers season ended, in what was a disappointing year, Magic Johnson shocked the media and fans by announcing he will be stepping down from his post of President of Basketball Operations.

Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson will always be remembered, by both Michigan State and Laker fans, as one of the best point guards of all time. His career as an executive, however, did not meet the standards of his playing days.

He made questionable moves, seemingly squandering his first season trying to craft a team around LeBron. He traded away now all-star DeAngelo Russell. He made questionable signings for like Rajon Rondo, Javale McGee, Lance Stephenson, and Michael Beasley.

Tuesday, after Luke Walton gave his final remarks of the season, Magic came out and dropped a bombshell: he’d be leaving the team.

Interestingly, he made this announcement, he said, before even telling Jeanie Buss.

Magic said that he wants to go back to being himself and being a fan. I think it’s safe to assume we’ll see him court side in the Breslin Center more often next season, as the player who is frequently compared to him, Cassius Winston, looks to lead an already hyped 2019-20 Spartans basketball team to a national title.
