Saturday’s game between Michigan State and Illinois has been postponed due to additional positive COVID-19 tests within the Spartans’ program. Head coach Tom Izzo made the announcement on Monday, revealing three more within the program have tested positive, including walk-on Davis Smith.

Izzo says one player has almost no symptoms, his son is experiencing a rough cough. “They’re all doing decent. We’ve had a couple of them who’ve struggled more than others.” Is trying to work out players individually the last few days.

This is the third straight game Michigan State has been forced to postpone due to positive COVID-19 tests within the program. A total of four players have now tested positive for the virus in the past two weeks, including Steven Izzo, Mady Sissoko and Joshua Langford.
Izzo also revealed that a total of eight players now have contracted the virus since the pandemic began, with four other players testing positive in August and September.

Michigan State will now need to figure out how to make up three conference games against Iowa, Indiana and Illinois. The Spartans’ next game as of right now would be on Jan. 28 against Rutgers.
