We were a bit late on this, but it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on the news that Michigan State has extended an offer to 5-star shooting guard Max Christie out of Illinois. Christie is currently projected by 247sports to go to Duke, which isn’t exactly surprising given his status as the 9th best recruit in the 2021 recruiting class.
Michigan State, as we all know, has typically failed to secure the commitment of many 5-stars. Of course, Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr. were two highly ranked players Izzo was able to recruit recently, but it’s certainly uncommon. Nonetheless, it’s always exciting when Izzo sends an offer out to a prospect like Christie. Izzo has already proven himself to be one of the best coaches of all time and he’s usually working with 3-4 star level prospects. When he’s able to recruit someone with as much talent as Christie, there is no ceiling on what he’s able to accomplish.
