Well, we are here. It’s time to hang some banners.
Each of the four GIFs we have left has gone through the ringer. They’ve battled through three rounds of intense GIF action and have come out the other side better and stronger for it.
They’re battle-tested and that’s a good thing, because they’re about to face their biggest battles yet.

#2 Trouble With the Snap vs. #2 Costello’s Bear Hug
I’m quite pleased with how this tournament came out. We enter the Final Four with three high seeds and a Cinderella, which is pretty typical of the actual NCAA Tournament. I’m proud of that.
Our first matchup features two #2 seeds that easily could have been #1 seeds. Trouble With the Snap took down Disappearing Dantonio in the regional final.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, long GIFs are generally tough sells. But when the content within the GIF is so strong, it becomes much more viable. The best part of this GIF might just be the quick frames we get at the end of the most famous surrender cobra in college football history.
It takes on another two seed in Costello’s Bear Hug.
This is just a wonderful GIF and it needs no explanation. It’s a beautiful encapsulation of MSU hoops under Tom Izzo, right down to the ass kicking of a top-ten team and the weird uniforms I’m not sure if I like. Costello hits Izzo so hard here too. We’re lucky Tom didn’t get knocked out on the spot.
#5 LippHIT vs. #1 “You Choked”
Next up we’ve got the Cinderella story against the highest seeded GIF left in the tournament.
In retrospect, Tony LippHIT should have been a higher seed.
I guess I’m not totally sure how it ended up as a #5 seed. Maybe it’s because it’s less funny than the other GIFs. Maybe we’re more aware of the dangers of football these days so big hits don’t mean what they used to ten years ago. Either way, this GIF was clearly under-seeded and it earned its way to the Final Four in pretty convincing fashion. This GIF is Tony Lippett and its opponents have been the Baylor kicker.
It goes against our last #1 seed, “You choked.”
The LippHIT run has been spectacular, but I don’t know if it can get passed this GIF. This one is an all-timer. It has all the things we love in GIFs. It’s funny. It involves humiliation of Michigan. It’s clever. It’s concise. It has spectacular shit talking. It’s just really great and I’d give it the best odds to win the whole tournament. Although I’ve been wrong about that many times already.
