The Tom Izzo region of the Spartans Wire MSU GIF Tournament provided some of the best first round action with two GIFs scoring upsets and the other two lower seeds putting up strong fights against the top seeds. It seems you guys are pretty big fans of when Tom Izzo gets angry.
I can’t say I’m surprised.

#1 WTF?! vs. #5 The Eye Roll
Our #1 seed “WTF?!” faced a tougher battle than expected in the first round, but was still able to come away with a convincing victory.
For my money this is still the best GIF in the region, but I’m not the one deciding these things. It’s concise and to the point. It’s a perfect encapsulation of Tom Izzo.
It takes on another angry Izzo GIF that scored a first-round upset.
I do love this GIF and am not surprised it knocked off the ladder dance GIF. That was the closest first-round matchup of the entire tournament. Tom Izzo and his glorious disdain for the stinker of a first half his Spartans put up is a worthy competitor in the second round.
#2 Costello’s Big Hug vs. #6 Tom doesn’t want your hug, Miles
The Costello bear hug is the lone representative for joyful Tom Izzo in the second round. It scored the biggest win of the region in the first round.
I get it. This thing was under consideration for the top seed for sure. Tom Izzo getting spun around like a child is a sight to behold.
It takes on the GIF that scored the biggest round one upset in the region.
In retrospect maybe I should have ranked this GIF higher. It was just such a loaded region that it was tough to move anyone down. Tom Izzo refusing the hug of Miles Bridges is just so funny. And it happens so quick. Tom immediately moves back into coaching Miles up. It’s a great GIF and deserved its big win.
