Michigan State football lands 2021 TE/WR Kameron Allen from Texas

Mel Tucker is rebuilding recruiting bridges close to home with his first full class. He also is taking Michigan State football back to Texas.

The Spartans landed their second 2021 recruit from the Lone Star State in the past week on Wednesday with the commitment of three-star prospect Kameron Allen from North Forney High in Forney, Texas.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end/wide receiver chose the Spartans over Arizona, Boise State, Missouri and others, as well as the three service academies (Army, Air Force, Navy).

MSU landed QB Hamp Fay from Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday. Five of the Spartans' nine recruits for 2021 are from out of state, with three of the other four from metro Detroit.

Mark Dantonio's staff made inroads into Texas after winning the Rose Bowl in 2014, but MSU graduated Tyler Higby (Houston), Darrell Stewart (Houston) and Josh Butler (Mesquite). Darius Snow, a safety and early enrollee, is the only current Texan on the Spartans' roster.

Allen is a three-star prospect and rated the No. 51 tight end in the nation according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He ranks as the No. 1,091 player overall and 153rd-best in Texas.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Allen was a first-team all-district selection and had 16 catches for 281 yards and five touchdowns in his first season at North Forney after transferring from Mesquite Poteet.

All of the players so far in MSU's 2021 recruiting class are ranked as three-star prospects by 247Sports' composite system: Fay, East Lansing offensive lineman Ethan Boyd, Florida safety Gabe Nealy, Oak Park running back Davion Primm, Detroit Loyola defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, Warren Mott defensive end Tyson Watson, Maryland cornerback Antoine Booth II and New Jersey offensive lineman Kevin Wigenton II.
