Michigan State football gets 10th commit for 2021 class in Florida CB Chuck Brantley

First, it was Michigan, then Texas. Now, coach Mel Tucker is reviving Michigan State football's recruiting prowess in Florida.

The Spartans landed their 10th commitment for 2021 on Thursday when cornerback Chuck Brantley announced his pledge via Twitter. The Venice High product is their second secondary player from Florida in the class, joining safety Gabe Nealy from Miami.

Brantley picked the Spartans over Florida State, where returning MSU cornerbacks coach Harlon Barnett had spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator. He also had offers from Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, Pitt, Virginia, Washington State and others.

The 6-foot, 160-pound Brantley is a three-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 41 cornerback and 557th-bet player nationally, according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings. The site ranks all 10 of MSU's 2021 recruits as three-star prospects.

Brantley is the highest-rated of the Spartans' commitments so far and Tucker's third out-of-state player to pledge this week, joining OL Kevin Wigenton II from New Jersey and TE/WR Kameron Allen from Texas. That moved MSU's class up to No. 20 in 247Sports.com's national rankings and ninth in the Big Ten.
