Michigan State Basketball beats Duke on the road in the Champion’s Classic

For the first time ever, Michigan State Basketball has beaten Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium. On Tuesday night, Tom Izzo got his third win ever against Mike Krzyzewski as the Spartans beat Duke 75-69.

This was a game that started off slow for Michigan State, but then Tom Izzo made a chess move against his old rival and friend Coach K, subbing in Julius Marble who scored a crucial 12 points in just 11 minutes for the Spartans. That was really when the game turned around and MSU started playing suffocating defense against the Blue Devils

From there, Aaron Henry really kept the Spartans in the game in that first half with his aggressive play and some of the best defense you can watch in college basketball. He didn’t shoot well (7/21 from the field), but he had 3 blocks, 3 steals, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists to go with his 14 points.

Rocket Watts really took over this game on the offensive side. Watts would drop 20 points in the game and really showed off his athleticism and speed.

Joey Hauser added another double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He also drilled two threes and nabbed a steal as he really starts to get comfortable with MSU.

Finally, Malik Hall deserves some credit for his solid play on both ends of the court. He finished with a double-double as well with 10 points and 10 boards.

The Spartans will face Detroit University next on Friday at 5 p.m. EST.
