Michigan State Baseball gets ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for 3rd year in a row

For the third year straight Michigan State Baseball has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association for their scholarly accomplishments with the Team Academic Excellence Award. The Spartans are 1 of 48 Division 1 teams given the award and they are the only Big Ten team to be given the award this year.

The award is given to both college and high school baseball teams around the country. There are 95 high school teams and 201 NCAA programs (I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college) that won the award, with a total of 296 total teams receiving the award this year. To qualify, your team needed to be above a 3.0 GPA average.

Here is Michigan State Baseball’s head coach Jake Boss Jr. statement regarding the award:

“A huge thank you goes out to Melissa Tallant and everyone in the SASS office for all of their tireless efforts in everything they do for our program.”

This is the second year in a row that the Spartans were the only team in the Big Ten to receive the award. Michigan State’s Baseball team had a 3.075 cumulative GPA this year.
