Michigan State adds late recruit to 2019 class in Jalen Hunt

Michigan State scored a big late win in recruiting, adding 2019 defensive end Jalen Hunt out of Belleville, MI to its recruiting class according to Hunt’s high school coach, Jermain Crowell.

The story was first reported by 24/7 Sports.

A three-star prospect, Hunt was originally committed to and signed with Iowa for this season, but didn’t qualify academically to get there. He chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Michigan State, Missouri, and Boston College among others.

After not qualifying Hunt planned on attending Iowa Western Community College, but ended up being a late qualifier. That allowed him to join the Spartans, who reportedly stuck with Hunt throughout the process.

Hunt is ranked the No. 16 player in the state of Michigan and the No. 717 player in the country by 247Sports. He joins Belleville teammates Julian Barnett and Devontae Dobbs as members of Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class.
