Michigan State a #1 seed in Joe Lunardi’s summer bracketology

Hey, it’s never too early for some NCAA Tournament bracketology, right?

While it might be for some of you, it certainly isn’t for ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. The veteran bracketologist released his Christmas in July bracket and has MSU as the #1 overall seed.

Michigan State is the #1 seed in the Midwest Region, playing the winner of a play-in game between Delaware State and St. Francis (PA).

While this bracket is nearly meaningless in terms of accuracy for the real bracket next season, it’s just another in a long line of college hoops experts pegging Michigan State as the top team heading into next season.

Caeser’s has MSU as the favorite to win next year’s title at 5-to-1 odds. Andy Katz recently picked MSU as his #1 Final Four team. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein has MSU as his preseason #1. And Westgate has MSU with the best odds to make next year’s Final Four at 3-to-2.

The hype for next year’s team has been building since Virginia cut down the nets in April and it will only continue to build as we approach the season opener against Kentucky in the Champions Classic on November 5th.
