Michigan shootings: At least seven dead in 'random murders' in Kalamazoo County

At least seven people have been killed in a series of "random" shootings around Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Five people were killed at a Cracker Barrel restaurant and two were killed outside a Kia car dealership.

A 14-year-old girl was among the five fatally shot at the restaurant, while a father and son were killed at the dealership.

Police were first called to an apartment complex where a woman was shot multiple times. She was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A 45-year-old male has been taken into custody and is now being questioned by police.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said authorities did not believe the shootings were targeted at specific people, describing them as "our worst case scenario".

"These are random murders," he said.

The man reportedly gave up without a struggle, and weapons were found in his car, police said.

Police are yet to determine a motive.
