Michigan safety Tyree Kinnel visits with the Lions

The Detroit Lions welcomed a draft prospect from nearby Ann Arbor for an official visit this week. Michigan safety Tyree Kinnel confirmed his visit with the Lions in an interview with Zig Fracassi on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Saturday.

Kinnel previously met with the Lions in St. Petersburg during Shrine Game week as well. The 5-11, 210-pounder primarily played as a strong safety during his Wolverines career, though he did show some opportunistic range in the Shrine Game with a fumble recovery.

Kinnel led the Wolverines in solo tackles in 2018 after filling the stat sheet with 2 INTs (including a pick-6), 5.5 TFLs and 7 PDs in his junior season. He is generally regarded as an undrafted free agent by draft analysts.
