Former Michigan center Moritz Wagner was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 25th overall pick in Thursday's 2018 NBA draft.
Wagner, who played three seasons for the Wolverines, earned All-Big Ten second team honors this past season. He led Michigan with 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, as the Wolverines made a run to the national championship game.
Wagner, who measured 6 feet 11, 245 pounds, is seen as a prototypical big man for the modern NBA. He was known for his offensive prowess and ability to stretch the floor _ as a sophomore, Wagner shot 39.5 percent from the 3-point line on three attempts per game; as a junior, he shot 39.4 percent on 4.1 attempts.
Wagner becomes U-M's seventh first-round draft pick under coach John Beilein, joining D.J. Wilson, Caris Levert, Mitch McGary, Nik Stauskas, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke.
