CHICAGO _ Jim Harbaugh didn't do anything unusual at the opening of the Big Ten media days.
Nothing more unusual than wearing his trademark baseball cap with a suit.
Yet his off-field topics seem more intriguing to people than the ones on the field.
So, of course he was asked about his reaction to appearing in the recent video for Bay Area rapper Bailey, where he repeatedly yelled his family's mantra: "Who's Got It Better than Us? Nobody."
"My default is usually yes," Harbaugh said, referring to all requests. "Why not? The reaction has been very good. I've gotten multiple texts, comments, phone calls, from people who really like it.
"And I think the cool people like it."
Bailey interspersed U-M footage with his own rapping and close-ups of Harbaugh screaming into the camera and while driving a sports car.
The rap was the biggest diversion during Harbaugh's 19-minute podium session, but he took the conversation and questions in a few directions.
_Harbaugh repeated his oft-used analogy about having his team get "one percent" better each day, much like a NASCAR team tries to get one mile per hour faster.
_He was asked about the upcoming International Champions Cup match at Michigan Stadium: "I'll be rooting for the team that plays the hardest to win. I do believe I have a ticket to go to the game, unless they've given it away."
_ He also gave effusive praise to his three attendees at the media days _ cornerback Jourdan Lewis, receiver Amara Darboh and tight end Jake Butt _ but none more than linebacker Jabrill Peppers, who Harbaugh said can play any position on the field and could be U-M's best slot receiver right now and potentially its best running back. But he noted Peppers' best position is nickel back, though Peppers is slated to be Michigan's strong-side linebacker.
