Michigan hits shot at end of half to hold slim lead over Ohio State

We’ve got an entertaining game going in Columbus between Ohio State and Michigan. So far, it has been everything as advertised with several lead changes, mini runs, and a fast-paced up and down style of play. It feels like one of those where the last team to have the ball will have a chance to win it.

That’s exactly what happened in the first half in fact. With the score tied, Ohio State let the shot clock get the best of them, then Michigan came back down the floor and got into the lane and hit a layup to head into the locker room up 45-43.

The Buckeyes played a solid first half of play, but the Wolverines’ shooting from 3-point range made all the difference. Over the first 20 minutes, Michigan is shooting 10-of-13 (76.9%) from beyond the arc. OSU leads in turnovers, two-point field-goal percentage, and rebounds, but will have to find a way to neutralize the hot shooting of the Wolverines in the second half.

E.J. Liddell and Duane Washington have been the stars for Ohio State so far. Liddell has 14 points and four rebounds, and Washington has splashed in 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Looks like we may be in for one whale of a second half, so stay tuned.  Hopefully Michigan cools a wee-bit from bombing away deep and the Buckeyes can continue to play at a high level and find a way.
