Michigan football gets commitment from 3-star Ohio safety Rod Moore for 2021

Clayton (Ohio) Northmont safety Rod Moore committed to Michigan football on Sunday, announcing his decision via Twitter.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is a three-star prospect, the No. 378 overall recruit and the No. 22 safety, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Moore's recruiting stock rose this offseason, and he received a bevy of Power Five offers in the winter and spring, including Iowa, Kentucky and Notre Dame.

As a junior, he finished with 85 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also reports a 4.41-second 40-yard dash.

Moore attends the same high school as three-star receiver Markus Allen, who is also committed to Michigan's 2021 class, and defensive end Gabe Newburg, who signed with the Wolverines in 2019.

Michigan's 2021 class now has 13 commitments and is ranked eighth overall and fourth in the Big Ten. Moore is the 11th prospect to commit to the Wolverines since the coronavirus outbreak began, which has prevented schools from making any in-person contact with recruits.

He is the second commitment in as many days; Bolingbrook (Illinois) linebacker Tyler McLaurin announced Saturday that he had picked Michigan.
