Michigan cleared to return to limited football activities per ESPN report

The Michigan football team has reportedly been cleared to return to limited workouts according to a school spokesman that confirmed the breaking news to ESPN.

According to Tom VanHaaren, the Wolverines are expected to practice in some capacity on Monday. This would be one day ahead of the scheduled optimism that was out there via other reports and should be taken as a positive sign that the Ohio State and Michigan game might be back on a path to being played on Saturday.

The Michigan football team paused football activities late last week because of a rise in positive COVID-19 test results and also canceled the game scheduled against Maryland last Saturday.

Despite the positive news and signs, the source also told VanHaaren that no decision has yet to be made on whether or not the Wolverines can travel to Columbus and play Ohio State. This move does not guarantee that “The Game” can be played, thus giving OSU its sixth game to qualify for the Big Ten Championship Game should the Buckeyes be able to beat Michigan for a ninth-straight year.

Still, it does look like the Wolverines are in better shape than last week and the brass in Ann Arbor has vehemently suggested it will do everything in its power to play this weekend.

“We hope to play as we hope to play every game this year,” Michigan athletic director Wade Manuel said last week … “Our hope is that we can play Ohio State and finish the season in the final week.”

We will of course stay on further developments, but we’ll take the positive move in the right direction for now.
