Michelle Williams revealed as Rockhopper as Destiny's Child star makes Masked Singer history

The Masked Singer panel were blown away on Saturday night as Michelle Williams was revealed to be Rockhopper, with the Destiny's Child star making show history by becoming the first star to be on the US and UK versions.

In one of Rockhopper's early VTs there was mention of her 'making headlines for doing something twice,' but that clue failed to land on the radars of any of the panel.

Subsequent clues that Rockhopper was singer Michelle included her wearing a jacket with Roman numerals making up the year Destiny's Child performed at the Super Bowl, cards with famous Williams on which, as well as being a hint to her second name, also pointed to Bills, Bills, Bills as William, when shortened, is of course Bill.

And then on Saturday night there was talk of Rockhopper appearing on more than one billboard, a nod to her being in hit musical Chicago and also a regular on the Billboard charts in America.

Masked Singer viewers had Michelle nailed on to be Rockhopper weeks ago, also recognising her voice, but none of the panel ever twigged, with their final guessed before the big unmasking including Greatest Showman star Zandaya and Sheridan Smith.

So when the mask came off and it was Michelle standing in front of them, the panel were in utter disbelief, particularly Rita Ora, whose jaw hit the floor.

Michelle said she was "cracking up" in her costume as all of Rockhopper's clue went over the panel's heads, even explaining the Bills, Bills, Bills one as the penny finally dropped for Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross.

The now 42-year-old goes into Masked Singer history books after first appearing on the American version in 2019 in the disguise of Butterfly.

Michelle lost out on a place in next week's Masked Singer UK final as Mushroom, Panda and Rockhopper made it through.

The hot tips to behind each of those masks are Charlotte Church, Natalie Imbruglia and Mark Feehily respectively.
