Michelle Visage responds to Cheryl feud rumours after Drag Race UK clash

Michelle Visage has hit back at rumours that there's any animosity between her and Cheryl after their so-called clash on RuPaul's Drag Race UK - insisting it was all just "banter".

RuPaul's right-hand woman exchanged some barbed insults with the former Girls Aloud star when she appeared as a guest judge on the BBC show last year.

While they sat on the panel together, Cheryl and Michelle had some clashing views about the drag queens in the contest.

As Michelle criticised Baga Chipz, she said to "ask the other judges" and that maybe it was just her.

"I think it's just you," Cheryl cut in, making everyone gasp as they exchanged a few tense looks throughout their disagreement.

After it aired, fans took to Twitter to point out the rivalry.

One shared an old clip of Cheryl telling bandmate Nicola Roberts: "Oh don't you f***ing start," writing: "Just gettin a whole lotta this from Cheryl towards Michelle tonight and I LOVE it"

"Me watching Michelle Visage and Cheryl’s face-off," another posted sharing a gif of someone scoffing popcorn.

One tweeted: "Michelle Visage and Cheryl Cole crossing swords on @dragraceukbbc has made my night!!"

And another asked: "Why are Michelle and Cheryl bout to have a scrap round the back of the studio"

But Michelle has made it clear that all wasn't as it seemed.

She told Closer : "I love Cheryl. It's called - and I know this is going to seem really far-fetched - banter.

"Cheryl and I have known each other for years. She gave me some back - and when you give it, you're gonna get it!"

Michelle also spoke to the mag about being mistaken for a man, saying people often tell her they thought she was a drag queen.

She said: "Ru calls me a drag queen, I call myself one. Drag really knows no gender. It's an honour. It's an honest mistake, too. For me it's the highest compliment."

Michelle, who has also appeared on the US version of the show with best pal Ru for years, confessed that getting big stars to agree to be guest judges is sometimes quite the slog.

She said they've asked the likes of Madonna, Cher, Adele, Liza Minelli and Dolly Parton numerous times, but said that "superstars are busy" and finding time in their schedules isn't always easy.
