Michelle Obama is breaking her silence about the ongoing rumours surrounding her marriage to former US President Barack Obama, addressing speculation and social media gossip.
In her recent podcast episode, of IMO, the 61-year-old tackled discussions about “negative energy,” misinformation, and the impact of online gossip on public figures. “People always ask me and Barack how we stayed hopeful—not just during the eight years in the White House but beyond,” she said. “Because, let me tell you, there was a lot of negative energy coming our way—a lot of rumours, a lot of gossip.”
Referencing past conspiracy theories, including false claims about Barack’s birthplace and his patriotism, she stated that their ability to rise above the noise stemmed from avoiding the distractions of social media. “You cannot live through social media,” she said and added that she has never once looked at a comment section. “Don’t let that negative energy enter into your space," she adviced and added, "These are people who don’t know you. A lot of this stuff is made up, and it does not feed you.”
While acknowledging the importance of staying informed, she cautioned against relying solely on online commentary for news. She also concluded with a call to “broaden our spectrum, and we have to get off the phone.”
Michelle’s remarks come amid ongoing social media speculation, including unverified rumours about her marriage to Barack Obama. The former president’s recent solo appearances have only fuelled speculation that a divorce announcement may be imminent. Adding to the buzz, Barack has also been linked to actress Jennifer Aniston in recent months. While several Hollywood celebrity news outlets have dismissed these claims—stating that Aniston is actually closer to Michelle than Barack—the rumours continue to circulate across social media.
