Former First Lady of the United States of America and author Michelle Obama had earlier hinted about "an exciting news" earlier on social media. And on July 21, 2022 Michelle Obama announced that after releasing her debut book 'Becoming' in 2018, she is now all set to release her second book!
Michelle's upcoming book is titled 'The Light We Carry' and it will be published by Crown later this year.
Sharing the news about her new book and what inspired her to write it, Michelle said in a video on Instagram, "I can't believe it's been a few years since I published by memoir 'Becoming'. And in that time a lot has happened. We've seen a global pandemic. We've seen an insurrection, a rising tide of hate and bigotry and intolerance, and a whole lot more. And it's often let me feeling out of balance. I don't know about you, I felt vulnerable. And yes, at times I felt afraid. How do we overcome our fears? How can we channel our frustrations into something positive? And how do we rekindle that flame that's inside each of us?
"And I've been doing a lot of reflecting on those kind of questions. I have spoken to a lot of loved ones, many of you, about what we all seem to be facing, and what has resulted in that process is actually my new book. It is called 'The Light We Carry'. And I think of it as a kind of tool box. A collection of some of the perspectives and practices I have gathered over the years to help keep me centered. Even during times of high anxiety and stress. And my hope is that we can equip ourselves with new tools and attitudes so that together-- maybe we'll be a little steadier with the understanding that none of us has to go through any of this alone. And I really can't wait to share even more with you."
Sharing her thoughts about being a published author, Michelle said in the post, "I never thought I would be the author of one book, let alone two. But I’ve found that writing this has been a way for me to gather my thoughts and find more clarity during this time. So, I hope this book means as much to you as it does to me."
As per a report by Associated Press, 'the new book is not part of the reported eight-figure deal the Obamas reached in 2017, shortly after he (Barack Obama) left office, with parent company Penguin Random House for their respective memoirs. A spokesperson declined to discuss financial terms for 'The Light We Carry'.'
Michelle's debut book 'Becoming' was an international bestseller. Over 17 million copies of the book were sold worldwide. 'Becoming' surpassed 'the sales of any memoir by a previous first lady or modern president, including her husband, former President Barack Obama', as per a report by AP.
'The Light We Carry' by Michelle Obama will be released on November 15, 2022.
