Michelle McManus gets emotional with Pop Idol throwback 17 years after victory

It was 17 years ago this week that Michelle McManus was crowned the winner of Pop Idol 2003 - and she couldn't help but feel emotional.

The Scottish singer took to Instagram last night to reminisce about the day that 'changed her life forever', marking 17 years since her victory on the music contest show.

Michelle thanked those who voted for her on that fateful night, and fans flocked to the comments to share their disbelieve that it was so long ago.

Alongside a photo of the moment that a young Ant and Dec declared her the winner after she sang her hit 'All This Time'. Michelle posted: "17 years ago today️  #Allthistime   #popidol   #winner   #grateful   #luckiestgirlintheworld   #thankyou."

She then added: "Guys I’m honestly overwhelmed with all your messages. I’m sitting here with tears streaming down my face reading all your stories and memories of that night.️

"I will never ever stop being grateful to you all and because you supported me and picked up the phone to vote, you changed my life forever. Thank you so much."

TV presenter Kate Thornton wrote: "Remember it so well! Hope you’re well lovely x."

Another added: "Jeez. Can't believe it's 17 years."

And another wrote: "It only feels like yesterday I voted for you to win Pop Idol. I have enjoyed the rest of history that you have achieved like your one woman show."

And one fan said she remembered the final well. She wrote: "It surely was and my mum was hosting m my 30th birthday on her birthday lol ... which means I’m 47 tomorrow aaaahhh .. the whole party were in the dining room watching with bated breath then group rendition of ‘all this time’ when you won .. whoop whoop fab memories xx"

Michelle, who is now 40, has remained in the entertainment industry since winning the show in 2003.

Just last week, Michelle from Glasgow revealed that she was selling custom video clips for just £33 on celebrity website Cameo in a bid to raise cash for Shelter Scotland.

Michelle is also enjoying being a first-time mum after giving birth to a little boy earlier this year.

Michelle and her husband Jeff welcomed Harry John Nimmo back in February.

The Scot only announced her pregnancy a few months before she was due, with a cute Christmas post saying baby Nimmo would be born in 'early 2020'.

Their announcement came two years after the happy couple tied the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony in the Scottish Highlands.
