The show's lead actress, 31, kicked things off when she posed with the first clapperboard of the season on Monday.
Filming for the fifth season of the BBC One hit began in Cape Town, South Africa, this week.
Michelle posted a string of snaps, including one of a sweet moment with a young member of the cast, who she carried on her hip.
The northern lass also posed for a group shot with her hair and makeup team as she prepared to be transformed into her character Georgie Lane.

Showing how much graft goes into filming, Michelle documented her 5am call time as well as a picture of her in target practice.
In another shot, Michelle flashed her pins in a pair of denim hotpants as she arrived on set, looking worlds away from action girl Georgie.

The Coronation Street alum was one of several cast members to share a behind-the-scenes look at series five.
Sean Sagar, who appears as Monk, posted a picture of himself outside his trailer.
Ben Aldridge, aka Georgie's love interest Captain Charles Jame, also used his trailer as a backdrop.
In the dramatic series finale 2 Section leapt over a cliff as they fled from an armed cartel.
The episode also saw Georgie succumb to her feelings for Captain Jame.
Details for season five are still under wraps but it will return to our screens later this year.
