Michelle Keegan returns to Coronation Street set - six years after leaving the cobbles

Michelle Keegan has returned to the Coronation Street set this week to revisit where her career as an actress began.

The 33-year-old shared on her social media on Monday that she was back on the Corrie set and revealed that it took her back and said it felt like just 'yesterday' that she was last there.

The brunette beauty, who played barmaid Tina McIntyre in the soap from 2008 to 2014, shared the rare moment on her social media account but did not reveal her reason for stepping back on to the set.

Michelle posted a clip of the her old stomping ground and captioned the video: "Look where I am... Feels like yesterday I was on these cobbles."

She also illustrated the message with a red heart emoji.

Michelle left Coronation Street six years ago after her character was killed off - something she previously said she was happy about.

Although it was scary at the time, Michelle said in 2016 that she thinks the death of her character was good for her career because it pushed her to make a name for herself off the cobbles.

"If the door had been left open at Corrie … I would have thought, 'It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work out, I can always go back after a year'," she explained.

Michelle starred on Corrie between 2008 and 2014 (ITV)

Michelle added: "I could have stayed at Corrie my whole life. It’s like a family there. But I thought if I didn’t leave when I did, I never would have left because it was so comfortable.

"But the way things are I can’t do that, so I have to go out and find work. I have to push myself now and go for lots of auditions. I’m a jobbing actress. It means I go to meetings and I enjoy that buzz."

Michelle Keegan portrayed soldier Georgie Lane in the BBC series One Girl (BBC/Ilze Kitshoff)

Since leaving soap land Michelle has starred in Plebs, Ordinary Lies, BBC One's Our Girl, Sky's Brassic and TV series Tina and Bobby.
