Michelle Keegan confirms Peter Kay is in talks to make TV comeback in Sky One's Brassic

Michelle Kegan has confirmed that Peter Kay has been in talks to join the Brassic cast.

The Our Girl star revealed that the Bolton funnyman could be making his TV comeback on a future series of the Sky One programme.

Michelle, 32, confirmed that Brassic co-creator Joseph Gilgun has spoken to Peter about joining in the show, adding he would be a “great addition”.

This comes a week after Manchester screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst teased fans that they could see the comic on the programme in the future.

Speaking to Heart, Corrie star Michelle said: "The last season I remember Joe speaking to Peter because Peter is a fan of the show.

"I don’t know if it’s true that he’s joining, I just know that he’s a fan of the show and that he was in talks with Joe last season.

"He would be a great addition to the show, I’m a massive fan of Peter Kay as well, fingers crossed, it’d be hilarious."

Hyde-born Danny, 48, previously spoke to Sky News, saying he has his sights on Phoenix Nights and Car Share star Peter for a role on the show.

He said: "There are so many people it would be good fun to have in.

"I know Peter Kay loved the show’s season one.

"It’d be amazing if we could get him in it."

Peter recently returned to our screens for the Big Night In fundraiser where he recreated Tony Christie’s Is This The Way To Amarillo song using video clips of socially distancing front line workers.

Introducing the video, the funnyman appeared in his garden in Bolton eating an ice cream and wearing a sun hat, shades and brightly coloured shirt.

Peter said: "Fifteen years ago I did a sketch for Comic Relief called Is This The Way To Amarillo and I never imagined that it would go down so well and make everyone happy.

"And I thought, what a perfect time to recreate it again.

"So we've asked a lot of you to film yourselves and send it in and listen, if you can help tonight there's a number on screen.

“If you can't, then don't worry about it. You've got enough going on."

This was his first TV appearance in two years after his tour was pulled for 'unforeseen family circumstances'.

Brassic series two is airing on Sky One now.
