Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright's dream home 'needs to cater for rare colony of bats'

Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan are looking to build a dream multi-million pound family home but have been told to consider a nearby colony of bats.

Former TOWIE star Mark, 33, and ex-Coronation Street actress Michelle, 32, are planning to build their new abode near Epping in Essex but certain local wildlife has to be considered.

The Sun has reported that the couple have submitted plans to knock down a farmhouse and build a Georgian-style mansion in its place.

They have come up against a colony of rare bats that nest in the nearby woods and are protected by law.

Mark and Michelle have already splashed £1.3million on the property and were hoping to build the new house that including a bar, gym, swimming pool and, hinting at the future, a children's playroom.

In planning documents lodged with Epping Forest Council, there is a conservation survey that highlights the nesting bats.

The documents state: “It is possible that bats may commute and forage along and within the woodland to the north west.

"Therefore, it is advised a bat-considerate lighting scheme be employed during the demolition, construction and completed phase to prevent lighting of the wood.

“In addition, bat boxes should be installed in the new building.”

The plans will be ruled upon by councillors at a later date leaving Mark and Michelle on tenterhooks waiting for the decision.

During their four year marriage they have spent much of their time on opposite sides of the world.

After marrying in 2015, they are claiming they're like "honeymooners" again as they finally get quality time together.

Mark lived in Los Angeles where he worked as a presenter on US show Extra, while Michelle, 32, jetted around the world filming Our Girl in locations such as South Africa.

He told Closer magazine: "Our schedules over the past few years have been crazy.

"I'm excited to just be at home with Michelle, rather than constantly waiting for the next time we have to leave each other.

"It's nice for both of us, knowing we can settle and make plans for the future without a long stretch of time apart looming ahead of us."

Mark added: "Michelle and I are in a great place right now.

"We're busy with the house, and we're enjoying each other like honeymooners again!"
