Michelle Heaton's Valentine's tribute to husband after he helped her battle addictions

Michelle Heaton paid tribute to her "rock" of a husband on Valentine's Day, with a gushing post looking back on the highs and lows of their relationship.

The former Liberty X singer - who celebrated nine months sober last month - used the romantic holiday as an excuse to thank her husband of 12 years Hugh Hanley for all his support over the years.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the mum-of-two shared a series of cute snaps of the pair throughout their relationship, including a throwback from their beach-side wedding in 2010.

Michelle, 42, gushed over her partner of almost 14 years - crediting him with standing by her as she's battled addictions and various health problems of late.

The star was praised last year when she opened up about her cocaine and alcohol addictions that left her "close to death" before seeking treatment.

In her sweet Valentine's Day post on Monday, Michelle also answered a question she claims she is frequently asked regarding her marriage going through several tests and challenges.

"Happy Valentine’s Day to my everything @hughhanley," the former singer began in the caption

"Together for 13.5 years. Married for 11.5 years. Parents for 10 years.

"Helped me through heart problems, my BRCA2 gene, a double mastectomy, total hysterectomy. Stayed by my side whilst navigating early menopause and then I lay onto him the sickness of alcohol and drug addiction!"

Michelle is almost one year sober from alcohol and narcotics, after checking into The Priory last April in a bid to get clean.

The inspirational star went on to thank Hugh for sticking with her through the tougher times in her romantic social media post on Monday.

"I often get asked how did he stay…. No one would have waited around through all of these things …" Michelle revealed in her Instagram caption.

"Well he did, because he knew I was in there, the person he married on that beach in 2010.

"Because of that I am here, today knowing I’m the luckiest girl alive."

Michelle then went on the confess that the happy couple - who shared children Faith, nine, and Aaron, seven together - decided not to "make a big deal" about Valentine's Day because all they "need is each other".

"Hugh is the most incredible person I’ve ever known," the tee-total star gushed towards the end of her tribute.

"My best friend. My husband. My business partner. The father to our children. The cement that keeps us together. The reasoning when 'life' turns up.

"Our rock!"

"Love you more then the moon and the stars in the sky…… #valentines #valentinesday," Michelle sweetly concluded on Monday.

Michelle started dating Irish businessman Hugh shortly after the demise of her ill-fated marriage to Andy Scott-Lee, brother of Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee.

The pair tied the knot in the Bahamas in 2010, two years after they met.
