Michelle Heaton's celebrity pals rally around her as she checks into rehab

Michelle Heaton's celebrity friends have praised the former pop singer after she bravely entered a rehabilitation facility.

The Liberty X singer, 41, is receiving treatment after reportedly turning to alcohol 'as a crutch' following a number of health issues during the coronavirus lockdown.

And on Wednesday evening - shortly after Michelle's rep confirmed that the mother of two is seeking professional treatment - her close pal and Dancing on Ice friend Matt Evers took to Instagram to share two snaps of him and Michelle and tell of his pride at her "taking a pretty big step for a better future."

"So proud of you Michelle for taking a pretty big step for a better future. We are all here for you," Matt penned on the social media site.

Below the post, Candice Brown who found fame on The Great British Bake Off in 2016 commented: "All the love."

The upload was also liked by TV talk show legend Trisha Goddard.

Michelle has underlying health issues and previously underwent a hysterectomy in 2012 and a double mastectomy in 2015 to reduce her risk of cancer.

She has been open on social media about her health worries and how going into early menopause has hit her hard.

The brunette has also been mourning following the death of her close friend Nikki Grahame, who lost her battle with anorexia this month.

The tragedy came just weeks after Michelle and her entire family tested positive for Covid.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for the star told the Mirror: "I can confirm that Michelle Heaton has entered a rehab facility today.

"Michelle and her family kindly ask that you give her the time she needs to get better and their family the privacy at this time, particularly her young children.

"We won’t be commenting more at this time on her private medical information other than to say she has the love and support of her family and friends."

A source close to Michelle told The Sun: "She was just about coping when lockdown hit last year, but the effect of being at home and being unable to distract herself, saw her hit rock bottom.

"She realised she needed to get help when she’d increasingly turned to alcohol as a crutch as she couldn’t cope with the effects of her operations.

"Michelle was left feeling like she had lost so much of what made her a woman and when she went into early menopause that brought with it a whole other collection of problems."

Michelle shares Faith, nine, and Aaron, seven, with her husband of ten years Hugh Hanley.
