Michelle Heaton and family struck by Covid as she urges people to get vaccine

Former Liberty X star Michelle Heaton has revealed she and her family have been struck with the coronavirus, just one month after she had her first vaccine.

The singer, 41, announced the news on social media and encouraged others to get the jab as soon as possible.

Michelle, who has underlying health issues, said NHS staff warned her that she could have been hospitalised if she caught Covid before she got her Pfizer injection.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a photo of her two kids showing off a pretty picture they had painted to pay tribute to the NHS.

In the caption, Michelle told fans that herself, husband Hugh and two children - Faith and Aaron - had tested positive for the virus.

She began: "Yesterday we found out that ALL four of us are Covid positive, after being randomly selected last year as part of the Oxford trail we regularly get tested, negative every week, until now!

"We know we don't need to alert the world lol, however, it's an opportunity to praise the #NHS.

"They spent the whole day reassuring us and meticulously covering all grounds of where one of us could have got it, also who could get it from us.

"Now that we have spoken to those who needed to be alerted ... we wanted to say THANK YOU to the NHS! @nhsengland."

She then urged others to get their vaccine as soon as it becomes available to them.

"And to to say #getthejab. I had the (Pfizer) jab a month ago - PROVING (NOT that it doesn’t work) but that we must ALL still be careful!

"Without my first jab, the NHS nurses I spoke to yesterday said thank god I accepted it, as a person with many underlying health issues I could have been a lot worse, or may be hospitalised - I'm doing OK, enough strength to tell the kids off anyway.

"They are taking this news so well so proud of them both considering this week we were going to start with friends and bbq’s!

"As kids go back to school and we start to see more people, we really need to face that some of us are going to get it..

"So, as I fall back asleep and get my husband more paracetamol from the draw .... let’s all support our amazing #nhs #staysafe #vaccine."

Just last year, Michelle and her little family were forced to self-isolate when a neighbour tested positive for the virus.

Thankfully, they were all safe, but Michelle took precautions in a bid to keep her family healthy.
