Vie Hotel Bangkok is to welcome chef Jackson Yu of Michelin-starred Omakase restaurant in San Francisco, on July 20-24.

A Beijing-born Chinese, Yu was trained in Japanese cuisine, especially traditional Edomae sushi, with which he fell in love at a young age.
Over the past two decades, Yu has adopted San Francisco as his new home, heading the sushi bar at some of the Bay Area's most renowned Japanese restaurants.
In 2009, Chef Yu started building his own culinary brainchild: his fourth restaurant, Omakase, which eventually opened in 2015. The name takes its cue from Japan's characteristic sushi dining style and means "leave it to the chef".
Under his leadership, Omakase has earned a reputation for being one of the highest quality and most authentic sushi restaurants in the city. After less than a year in operation, it received a Michelin star and was ranked among the top dining establishments by the San Francisco Chronicle.
At Omakase, Yu is often seen chatting with his guests and determining their tastes with his fine sense of flavour, trying to tailor his creations to their preferences. The restaurant is lauded for his craftsmanship and his personalisation of every dish.
During his five-evening visit at Vie Hotel Bangkok's Yellow Tail Sushi Bar, chef Yu will showcase his Michelin-rated dexterity through a series of multi-course omakase dinners.
The dinner, with very limited seating available, costs 8,000 baht net per person for food only, or 10,000 baht net per person with sake pairing.
