Michelin star guide 2023 revealed as Aughton restaurant celebrates

An Aughton restaurant has been given a Michelin star for the first time.

The French-based group who oversee the awarding of the prestigious accolade announced the best UK restaurants at a ceremony this evening, and some well-known Merseyside and Lancashire spots made the cut. Fraiche, Birkenhead retained its one Michelin star, as did The Barn in Aughton, with Moor Hall celebrating its two stars and now Sō–Lō in Aughton joins them as it celebrated a one Michelin star.

So-Lo, near Ormskirk, was the only restaurant in Lancashire to receive the accolade for the first time after opening just more than 12 months ago, LancsLive reports. Chef Tim Allen aims to give a modern take on British food as he has two decades of experience working in the UK’s best restaurants.

Chef Patrol at Fraiche congratulated So-Lo on their star rating as Marc Wilkinson took to social media to say: "Huge congratulations to the team at Solo from your friends at Fraiche, super made up for you!"
