Michele Lamy's Universe At The Corner Shop Of Selfridges

The high priestess of cult fashion, Michele Lamy, recently launched Lamyland at the Corner Shop of Selfridges.

Followers of cult fashion emulate all things unconventional, daring and revolutionary. It’s high priestess: Michele Lamy. The muse and wife of designer Rick Owens is also a creative mind, artist, philosopher and former defense attorney. Lamy first came into fashion’s consciousness when she opened the trendy hotspot Les Deux Café in Los Angeles . At around the same time, Lamy also ran her own fashion label where she met Owens whom she hired as a pattern cutter.

Lamy has always held a special place for boxing in her sorceress heart . And while boxing and art may seem like an odd pairing, they were two elements that help build the newly launched LamyLand in Selfridges, London. The idea was to create an entire universe where high fashion, modern art and boxing could come together under one roof.

Lamyland brings together fashion, art and boxing as seen through the eyes of Michele Lamy.

Inside Lamyland in the Corner Shop of Selfridges, visitors are able to explore a world where Versace creates boxing apparel, Edward Bess concocts a fragrance called Blood Sweat and Tear and Gareth Pugh embellishes a robe with Swarovski. It is a curated and conceptual space for collaborators like Off White, Everlast and of course, Rick Owens to showcase their distinct interpretations on the sport that does not only require physical agility and speed but mental strength. A fully functional boxing gym has also been set up at the UltraLounge basement in collaboration with BXR, resulting in a complete sensorial experience at Lamyland.

The retail mix featured in Lamyland fuses function with fashion and art. Only through this high concept space will you find faur fur boxer shorts or a blinged out robe. Here’s a peek at the pieces you’ll want in your wardrobe–whether headed to the box or not.
